Just wondering what people's thoughts and opinion are on the title matter.
Been doing some reading on her and interested to know if anyone here has ever taught / studied or used her methods in performance here ?
I knew two people who have studied the Taubman approach. One is a good pianist and feels that the emphasis on forearm rotation really transformed her playing. It took quite some time for her to get used to the approach. At the beginning, she had to learn from the basics all over again, despite having attained a very advanced standard already. She thought the time and effort was worthwhile, however, because her tone improved greatly and she was able to play with minimal tension.
The other person studied the Taubman approach briefly. His own technique is quite poor, and worse, he passed on his (not so correct) version of the Taubman approach to his students. His students are very good with rotational movements in their arms, but have very poor control over their fingers and have no knowledge of how to use arm weight properly.
