Going out to the waiting room to give a final call for my 9.00 appointment.

They probably won't come. Or if they do the plea will be "can't you just squeeze me in?"

Where? How? Whom shall I put back in order to do that?

"The ambulance was late!"

And there is the driver looking at his/her watch failing to see why I can't carry out in 5 minutes what should take 45, so they can get on with their round.

Bah!

Isn't there anyone to wait on you?

I was at the dentist being scraped and polished. I walked past the shop on the way home and really wanted an ice lolly, but my mouth is still too tender sad.gif (I'm such a sensitive soul tongue.gif )

Orthodontist appointment sad.gif then cycling home. The cycle route (addenbrookes to shelford) had been shut without me realising, so I had to cross the railway and take a different route (though essentially just the same on the other side of the track). I got stung by a few nettles though. ohmy.gif

Just back home from a concert. The National Youth Orchestra of Ireland (Junior Orchestra)... Only stayed for the first half.. (too much to do at home). Julian Bliss played Mozart's Clarinet Concerto.

They sounded great. the other half of the youth orchestra (the Symphony Orchestra) are playing Schwenker Percussion concerto with Evelyn Glennie on a mini tour... Dublin, Belfast and Glasgow... would love to see that.

Likewise just back from a concert. The fantastic Aurin girls' choir from Hungary.

A really great treat to hear them again.

Ditto! Lovely for me and Bagpuss to meet Maggie in the flesh AT LAST!!!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

The Aurin Girls were just STUNNING - their sound, their tuning, their musicianship...50 15-18 year-old girls who have 45 (two and a half hours' worth) MEMORISED pieces in their repertoire, from plainchant to spirituals (their conductor conducts from memory, too).

The best bit is when they stand all round the audience - all the parts mixed - so that the audience gets 'surround sound' - a truly stunning experience. I closed my eyes and felt the tears well up...it was so beautiful.

Sorry, I'll shut up now!

Still-on-a-high-Cyrilla smile.gif

Yes - mile-high all the way. Weren't they great?

and it was lovely to meet both of you too. Finally !

It's quite something when they fan out around the building, isn't it? and with the voice parts all mixed so they are not singing the same part as the singer next to them it's even more effective. Nice moment for me was when the girl nearest to us looked round and acknowledged the applause - and we exchanged a smile and a nod - it sounds so casual - but on my part it contained a world of appreciation and I think she got that.

Am just listening to their new CD.

That's an excellent piece to start learning. I think I should have another go at this smile.gif

I just dug out some random sheets that people had given me some time ago (mostly hymn type stuff) and was quite shocked to find that I could sight read it quite well smile.gif
