Likewise just back from a concert. The fantastic Aurin girls' choir from Hungary.
A really great treat to hear them again.
The supporting gig wasn't bad either!
Ditto! Lovely for me and Bagpuss to meet Maggie in the flesh AT LAST!!!!
The Aurin Girls were just STUNNING - their sound, their tuning, their musicianship...50 15-18 year-old girls who have 45 (two and a half hours' worth) MEMORISED pieces in their repertoire, from plainchant to spirituals (their conductor conducts from memory, too).
The best bit is when they stand all round the audience - all the parts mixed - so that the audience gets 'surround sound' - a truly stunning experience. I closed my eyes and felt the tears well up...it was so beautiful.
Sorry, I'll shut up now!

Yes - mile-high all the way. Weren't they great?
and it was lovely to meet both of you too. Finally !
It's quite something when they fan out around the building, isn't it? and with the voice parts all mixed so they are not singing the same part as the singer next to them it's even more effective. Nice moment for me was when the girl nearest to us looked round and acknowledged the applause - and we exchanged a smile and a nod - it sounds so casual - but on my part it contained a world of appreciation and I think she got that.
Am just listening to their new CD.
