Writing a report... the first stage towards publishing the research I've been working on! biggrin.gif

I shall be so pleased if I get my first paper with my name on before I graduate; but we shall see!

I'm now wasting time on the forum while I wait for the technician to give me my data logging computer back so I can get the data to finish the report...

which was supposed to be handed in today...

but I didn't quite finish it at half one in the morning yesterday, so decided I'd brave not having it completed... embarassed.gif

My teacher didn't mind too much I don't think. She takes literally months to mark things which other teachers can do within a week, because she has a two year old son, and would prefer being with him. Still really bad of me though. I'll have to give myself extra sightreading practice as a punishment dry.gif

Ooh, but actually, I haven't got any exams for aaaaaages!!!! I hope.

Attempting to prove to helpdesk that me submitting a ticket saying "Oracle instance XXX is unavailable, preventing multiple users from working" doesn't mean 'I entered my username and password wrong'.
I know they have to follow the form, but when I tell them that several of us are unable to work, it's hardly likely that it is my username and my password that is causing problems for the other people!

Trying to do something with my hair - having a very bad hair day!! It has suddenly gone where I can't do anything with it, don't you just hate it when that happens? Luckily I only have to wait until Saturday when I go to the hairdressers - thats if I can wait that long, at the moment I feel like giving it a shave and polish!!

Have you tried switching off then on again?

What, IT already suggested this?

They didn't this time. Last time someone had a problem with our development area, she reported it in to helpdesk and said talked through the problem and what she had done so far, and said that she had - as we are instructed to in the event of problems - rebooted her (VMWare) slice...and all heck broke loose! Helpdesk were demanding to know who trained her, who said she could reboot servers, who was the owner of her privilege access account, they were going to take it up with a Grand Fromage that we were breaking all sorts of compliance rules by rebooting our slices as we needed to without having a form signed by 18 senior vice presidents.
So actually, I was really looking forward to them asking me if I'd rebooted, but they didn't.

(And, on the earlier issue, there has been no comeback to anyway, so we can only assume that whoever got the call completely misinterpreted exactly what we mean by the reboot of a VMWare slice...)

Back on topic, having done battle with helpdesk, before I logged on the forum I was building a non-coronary revascularisation screen, so there. What I ought to be doing is going over to the comfy seats for my 'lunch break' and writing my intro/conclusion to my next OU assignment...

Idiots tbh, what's the problem with rebooting your own, self-contained virtual workstation/server.. it's not as if it's going to affect anyone else tongue.gif

Well it comes from doing part time study, and not much else (I hope to start up teaching Maths/Music again next term if things continue to go well, but not quite yet). tongue.gif

I did used to have an awful sleep pattern where I would get maybe 2 hours sleep on a good night, then went out to college for the day, and then taught for two hours, before two hours of musical activities. That didn't end well! rolleyes.gif

Let's hope your sleep pattern sorts itself out soon.

It's taken you nigh-on five hours to eat three fig biscuits? You are so restrained! Generally if we open a packet, they are gone within five minutes (but there are two of us...though being on my own probably wouldn't slow me down too much!)
