Hi everyone.
I have some questions for the examination:
  • If an exam piece is more than 3 pages, am I allowed to bring a copy of the third page to put in front of me while I play, because I find it quite inconvenient to turn the page in the middle of the music,
  • Does the examiner mind if one plays a note in the LH which was supposed to be played in the RH because it's easier to play the notes in that way?
Thanks smile.gif

In this case, I will often photocopy the single page (first or last depending on where the piece starts for a 3 page piece) and attach it with masking tape to the relevant page so that you can have a 3 page spread on the piano or music stand. Attaching it with masking tape stops a loose page falling or slipping, especially if there is a bit of draught around. I think this is permissible if you have an original copy of the music - it is enabling you to play continuously without having to negotiate the page turn and potentially lose momentum.

I don't think the examiner would worry about playing notes in the 'other hand' to facilitate the page turn if this made it easier.

I often play the notes with the wrong hand, partly because I'm quite advanced for my age and my handsaren't big enough for the chords. I often photocopy an odd page, and in my grade 7, I was so terrified of missing the page turn or messing it up that I learned the first page from memory to avoid turning.

1 - I think you can, especially if it is likely to cause trouble, but i'd call the board to check.
2 - nope, they don't comment on fingering unless it has caused you trouble, and even then i think they only do that with scales. Doing that is common in alot of SATB music, because of large gaps between the Tenor and Bass

You're allowed to photocopy a page for an exam to make page turning easier.

It doesn't really matter which hand you play notes with as long as you make it sound nice. I expect you'd probably get the same marks if you played the whole piece with hands crossed as you would if you played it normally if the two sound the same.

Yeah i think you can potocopy the page to make it easy.

The examiner genrel dosent look at your hands to check what hand you are playing notes with.
