This is the first time they've tried one in Manchester, but if it's the same size as the London ones (which is highly likely), expect around 100 attendees.

Well to quote the great Tm Paxton "there is safety in obscurity". So.......??

Following on from the discussion pushpull and I had in the Adult Learner's area, I've pulled this thread out of the archive : anyone else applied to go to either Manchester or London? smile.gif

I'm going to. Not sure whether it will be this month or next though.

yay.gif that's good!

One thing to note about these playdays is that the parts tend to be mixed up (ie there's not, for example, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th clarinets) : you'll get a selection of different parts. If there are parts that you look at before the day starts that make you go 'ugh, I'd rather have a different part', it's usually easy enough to exchange individual parts with another participant (which is what smd did with me in 2008) smile.gif

I'm sure Emsoboe will wave to you all and will probably be sad not to participate.

No they have Scales/Arpeggio/Sight Reading Tests time tabled for that day laugh.gif

The odder thing is that the Junior department is also operating on the 24th October, the Saturday of the woodwind weekend. Halle have the Sunday as half term but the Junior half term is the following Saturday.

I'm sure you'll be caught up with during the day biggrin.gif

Thought : it's only £15 for oboists, and the event lasts all day. If the RNCM Junior dept. stuff only lasts part of the day, perhaps emsoboe can do a reasonable proportion of the playday too? smile.gif

It's 9.15 until 4 pm with an hour for lunch and only one 15 mins break. Will have to look at the timetable and see if she can cope with any more biggrin.gif Might be impossible given that Sunday is going to be a long day too. It might be wise to wait before committing.

I'm sure I already replied once but it disappeared. Ah well, must be me age.

Anyhow what I said was "Pah. She just doesn't want to be seen at the RNCM with a bunch of wrinklies".
