FluteDiva!!
Hello everyone!
Well, today I passed grade 8 flute with distinction party1.gif so now I'm an official grade 8-er, and I'm hoping to embark on some new repertoire - so would be really grateful if anyone could give me some suggestions as to what I could be playing post grade 8 smile.gif To give a rough idea of what I like - anything pretty! I'd like to do some really beautiful and slow music, but nothing too angry or sad-sounding!
Thanks everyone, I've had so much brilliant advice from this forum!

Congratulations biggrin.gif
Have you played the Ensco - Cantablie et Presto? I think that's really pretty, but you might have already come across it smile.gif

woot.gif Great news! Onwards and upwards!

Pleased to hear you're already thinking of more repertoire and hope you keep enjoying your flute for many years to come. smile.gif

agree.gif I remember going into Just Flutes with the Diploma Syllabus and grabbing anything that took my fancy to have a look at, as well as some modern stuff (Ian Clarke/Mike Mower) things just to mess about with really!!
FluteDiva!!
Thanks everyone for your replies! I've had a look at the syllabus and I now have a pile of stuff on order! ChevvyChev, yes I have played the Cantabile et Presto, and it's lovely. I think I might dig it out and have another go, so thanks for reminding me about it! I've also just discovered the 2nd movement of Mozart's concerto in g wub.gif It's exactly the sort of thing I had in mind, so I'm off to do some listening! And the great news is, I have the whole summer holidays to learn lots of new stuff now grade 8 is out of the way! No more scales or aural ever again!!! laugh.gif

Ooo, 2nd mvt of G concerto = yummy smile.gif I've also found lots of "other movements" of pieces I'd used for exams/concerts that I've enjoyed looking at since, that I'd never considered looking at before smile.gif

I thought that about scales/aural...until I swapped teachers, and he informed me to my horror that actually I'd be doing much much more laugh.gif Thankfully I actually see the point in the things he's getting me to work on in those areas so I don't mind as much!

Three collections to think about getting if you haven't already got them: Flute Music by French Composers, Handel 11 Sonatas and Bach Sonatas (I prefer the two volume Barenreiter for these).

Other works that it's a good idea to have: Telemann Fantasias, Godard Suite, Reinecke Undine Sonata, Widor Suite.

Hope that's enough to keep you going!

Well done for the grade 8 result party1.gif

FluteDiva!!
Thanks Lizbun! I still can't believe you got 2 distinctions in one term and got into Chets! Go you!!
Thanks everyone else for even more suggestions smile.gif I do have the Flute Music by French Composers book (a staple if you ask me laugh.gif ) and the Godard Suite (not keen though) but you've given me plenty of ideas for my Christmas list! (am currently skint - just bought a new yamaha sax ph34r.gif ).
