In todays Daily Telegraph there is a clue 'Musical Minimum' (1,6)
the answer being G String. I use this as an example.

I will watch for others but not give the answer next time for someone else to solve.
Or if anyone elses crossword has a cryptic music clue, lets try to solve it

I don't get it. It makes sense once you know you're thinking about violin, but it could equally be C string/E string etc... blink.gif

Think about the other meaning of G-string! Smallest i.e. minimum underwear you can get.

The sign of a mis-spent youth, I'm afraid! ph34r.gif

One of the boys at school used to bring in his parents' Daily Telegraph crossword every morning and a small group of us would solve it together. It was great fun! It's nothing to do with intelligence - more lateral thinking, which comes more easily with practice. smile.gif

I don't get this game.

It's just cryptic crossword clues to do with music. If you're not used to doing cryptic crosswords it might seem strange, but most people have come across them!

For instance the answer to "Schubert's dodgy tutor" is simply an anagram of the word 'tutor'. The Trout Quintet is one of Schubert's most famous compositions. 'Dodgy' is the adjective that makes you think it's an anagram.

Can you explain that one please? blink.gif
fsharpminor
A german drinking vessel is a Stein. A Route is a 'Way', hence piano is Steinway !!
hello_cello
Stein is the name for those wierd tankardy things germans all seem to drink beer from
Way being, takes route to the piano

Steinway being a piano.

edit: Excellent synchronization there.
sarah123
Ah, it's obviously my lacking knowledge of german drinking customs that let me down that time. wacko.gif
