Passed DipLCM (clarinet performance) much to my amazement - I only entered to get the examiner's comments on what I needed to improve before the next attempt!
I was really chuffed when I opened the letter - I had no lessons, only comments from my partner, to help me prepare. One week before the exam my accompanist pulled out, leaving me to find someone who could learn Weber and Stanford with almost no notice. Many many thanks to John who heroically agreed to accompany me and did a magnificent job!

Now to start on ALCM... several years of work there I think...

Go for other higher diplomas now windy!i proudly sign myself GBSM FTCL FLCM FVCM(hons) LGSM LTCL LLCM(TD) LLCM ABSM ARCM ALCM. All my diplomas apart from my degrees were on the recorder.take note people who think that the recorder is a non serious and rubbish instrument!!

many thanks notmusimum.it was hard work as my ABSM was taken 3 times in teaching,performing and recital.Ialso had two excellent recorder teachers at the Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal College of Music

Teaching is key. My daughter is lucky that she now has a specialist Recorder Teacher after muddling along until post Grade 7.

He seems to have asked other people that question since I posted that my laptop was infected with a virus the other day. Maybe he thinks that it's able to infect other computers using the forums. Or perhaps he thinks that others also practise his technique of having several forum identities. Or perhaps he's taken to talking to himself....

And, Confutatis (or whatever forum name you're signing in under today! ), should you ask me how my PC is then, unfortunately, my laptop is still infected, despite me wrongly thinking the virus has been successfully removed last night.

Just thought I'd ressurect this thread. Hoping all of you still waiting hear something VERY soon.

I rang up today, as I'm about to go on holiday. They said they had started posting the results out and would have finished by the end of the week. Like you David, I feel as if I've lost the plot and need the results - good or not so good - to be able to move on and plan.

If you email they will tell you if the results have been posted or not but not give you the results, which is reasonable
As of today's post my son (I had to ring him at school!) is now DipABRSM (with Distinction!)

I was so convinced that i'd failed mine (I took it 2 years ago) that I literally wasn't bothered about getting my results, so practically kissed the postie when they arrived with a large brown 'do not bend' envelope, which may have been a little awkward seeing as it was a female postie that day!

Just got my results and didn't pass, I'm afraid but not totally surprised. I did reasonbly well in the viva and the quick study and am happy with my marks so will carry those through to a resit for the recital. I was 3 marks short of a pass, but have received some constructive comments on areas to work on. However, I know that on the day I did the best I could and the whole experience has made me a better player. So onwards and upwards. Good luck to everyone else.

Thank you for your encouraging words. I'm feeling quite positive and pleased with what I have achieved and have already started looking at the repertoire list for a resit next summer. It was a trumpet DipABRSM I did.

I don't mind you asking. My programme was:

Peter Maxwell Davies - Sonatina for solo trumpet- own choice
Handel - Suite in D
Haydn concerto
Busser - Andante and Scherzo

The comments centred around intonation, tone production and technical points.

To put the exam in context, I have a full time job, family responsibilities etc, so I am pleased to achieve what I have. I took grade 8 in 1974!

Just got back from Chester to find a small envelope. I passed the prog notes/viva and the QS satisfactorily, but failed the recital by three marks.
