Just got back from Chester to find a small envelope. sad.gif I passed the prog notes/viva and the QS satisfactorily, but failed the recital by three marks. sad.gif sad.gif

I'm so sorry to hear that, it must be so frustrating to miss out by just 3 marks grrrrrr!

Very well done on getting through the Viva/notes and QS though. I think it was LRSM you took? These diploma's are so hard, that's why i'm stalling and haven't got round to any more than thinking about LRSM (plus the exam fee is quite substantial!)

Sorry to hear this, andante_in_c. sad.gif

I seem to remember that you thought the solo items could have gone better, so maybe it's best to "get back on the horse" and have another go. You were so close; it's disappointing, but definitely worth another go.

Commiserations, andante_in_c sad.gif

From what I read (looking at the figures for each year), it seems that it must be quite a common thing for people to miss the mark first time. Did they give any constructive feedback, and if so, is it something that could easily be rectified by December? smile.gif

The fact that you are confident enough to even take this exam speaks volumes about the level you're at, which is one consolation, I guess smile.gif Good luck for next time!

Oh dear...I don't think I want the post to come now ohmy.gif

If it's any consolation I passed both of my Dips first time. smile.gif

Thanks to all for their support. smile.gif I've more-or-less decided to retake in December, with a simplified programme (fewer works, that is). As I won't have to redo the Viva or programme notes I can concentrate on performing the pieces without worrying what I'm going to be asked about them. smile.gif

My probable retake programme will be the Mozart D major concerto, together with the Roussel Joueurs de Flute and Anne Boyd Cloudy Mountain, which had the most positive comments this time around.

I haven't heard anything yet...the exam was eight weeks ago yesterday - I'm almost losing interest...

If you email they will tell you if the results have been posted or not but not give you the results, which is reasonable
As of today's post my son (I had to ring him at school!) is now DipABRSM (with Distinction!)

A BRILLIANT result!!!! you must me soooo proud of him.

I was so convinced that i'd failed mine (I took it 2 years ago) that I literally wasn't bothered about getting my results, so practically kissed the postie when they arrived with a large brown 'do not bend' envelope, which may have been a little awkward seeing as it was a female postie that day! laugh.gif

Yes . .we are chuffed to bits for him and his teacher. lots of hard work.
No certificate as they are not ready apparently but they had the good sense to put the results in a certificate envelope anyway so that we knew he had passed without opening it, then he sent a text from school saying could he know the mark . . and that's when we found out it was a high one - phew!

Hope everyone else is getting their results through now

Well, I arrived home to find a large brown envelope on the floor. I did, as I do with pupils' results, finger through the enclosed papers to look for the certificates. You can imagine my horror to find that there was no certificate enclosed ohmy.gif I thought I had failed!

I was pleased to find though that on further investigation, I had passed with 62% which seems OK. Apparently, the certificates are to follow within two weeks rolleyes.gif

Considering the comments and thinking about my thoughts at the time, it really confirms in my mind that the length of the exam is simply not long enough to discuss anything which might be considered out of the norm (for example, they criticised me for not teaching beginners a piece in the very first lesson rolleyes.gif )

What a relief!

Congratulations David!!! party1.gif

So sorry to hear that Andante! I hope you'll have another go and get it on the second time out. I know how horrible it is to see that little envelope. Take care!

I've been keeping an eye on results coming through and am starting to feel just a little bit motivated again to perhaps try for an LRSM in the future.

I also didn't realise that the pass mark was 40%, I thought it was 60% (DOH!) so thought i'd only just passed and hence haven't had serious thoughts of going any further yet!, now I realise I was only 5 off a distinction for the performance dip (where the viva went disastorously!). I've just dug my mark sheets out;

Dip abrsm Clarinet teaching (July 2005)
Viva = 46/60
written submission = 20/25
Quick study = 8/15
Total = 74%

Dip Abrsm Saxophone performance (July 2007)
Recital = 41/60
viva, prog notes = 14/25
Quick study 10/15
total = 65%

The trouble now is deciding which one to do it on?! Also the fee is rather substantial for LRSM isn't it?! wacko.gif
