I'm moving near chester and I'm really tempted to sign up for this although I've never played clarinet in front of anyone except my ex-partner, my teacher and the examiner.

I'm starting a new job next month though and will have to work 1:3 weekends - is it still ok to sign up? I won't know until next month what my rota will be, and there might be scope to swap weekends anyway.

Also, would it be ok to bring a piano accompaniment on cd to play along to? Or better to ask for a real accompanist? Don't want to trouble anyone.

That's absolutely fine eirlys, just pop a form/payment in the post to me. You'll find we're all a really supportive lot, so it'd be great to see you and hear you play. smile.gif

You can do either eirlys : have a cd accompaniment or we can provide you with an accompanist. smile.gif

Or Donny, Stockport and Crewe? blink.gif

*wonders where Stockport is* blush.gif

The ones the change at Sheffield look like they take the same amount of time as the Doncaster ones. unsure.gif

I don't think the trains like crossing the Pennines. laugh.gif
lois
I shall definately be coming to this one.

My application will go in the post next week (pay day biggrin.gif )

What about National Express - the earliest one to arrive seems to be 11.15am and at least it's straight through. I'm not going to this one, otherwise I would have given you a lift smile.gif

Thanks - I am actually getting the coach, but only to Manchester. Getting a train from there smile.gif

I don't think I could face getting a coach all the way there laugh.gif

I'd better check other rail works for that weekend...
eirlys
I shall print the application form and pop it in the post next week then smile.gif once I've had a think about which piece I'd like to play.

Would anyone be interested in possibly trying a small string ensemble piece, trio or quartet maybe - of a fairly easy standard? I could bring violin or viola (would like to try viola), could post parts and then try together on the day?
petrat
I hope that we will have enough recorder players there for a double consort too. I have plans for using both ends of that lovely place for that.

I'll let you know as and when we get applications. I haven't timetabled anything beyond choir/finale/In a Persian Market, but as and when all the recorder players are free, just gather us together and we'll play what you've created petrat! biggrin.gif

I have just filled in my form. I have a contra bass recorder and I know that there will be a couple of other bases there and perhaps a great bass too. If we have enough recorder players we can do a double consort, in stereo. smile.gif

Also I wanna be a camel!
DaisyChain
Form has been printed and will be in the post next week. smile.gif

Let Ratty be a camel otherwise she'll get the hump! rolleyes.gif

Sure smile.gif
fsharpminor
I'm still not sure if I can make it ! sad.gif though I really do want to. I would love to meet some (more) of you ! And it's only 20 mins drive away
But we also need to get a week away sometime in Sept , and the 19th is right in the middle !
oldnotes
Not sure what you have in mind for the music side of Persian Market - presumably various wind instruments - but I already have the full piano score and could provide any sections if you want a piano involved.
skylark
If anybody going to Chester is going by car, I can recommend a slight detour to a brilliant secondhand bookshop for music books and sheet music. It's near Frodsham which is just off Junction 12 on the M56 (the motorway linking the M6 with Chester). It's only about 4-5 miles at the most I would say, and it's well worthwhile. I'll post more details about it on the Secondhand Bookshop thread in a minute smile.gif

oldnotes, I've got the piano music for In a Monastery Garden if you want to borrow it any time, or if you or your mum want to borrow it, lois smile.gif
Chris H
We're going to give this one a miss, I'm afraid - I think it would involve Music Stand missing music centre, and it is a bit of a trek for us (although that's no excuse, thinking of the distances other people manage to travel)

Fingers crossed f#minor : and sorry to hear you can't make it Chris H : hopefully I'll see you again soon.

Collecting first lot of forms tomorrow smile.gif

Not sure if we can do this or not as future is still unclear, and Saturdays may be out. Will let you know as soon as we can.

If anyone wants to do a duet or something, let me know. I play flute, roughly G4-5 standard... smile.gif

Thanks for the offer skylark, Mom has got everthing he's done (twice!! her original sheet music copies and a compilation)

I currently have her compilation book as my in-between grades challenge is a Ketelby piece although I'm not making a very good job of it currently blink.gif

I have downloaded the application form, and will fill it in shortly biggrin.gif .

Looking forward to playing another duet with Babybird2 --- those who heard us at the last Leeds will be totally amazed at the improvement our new flutes have made to our playing (well I sincerely hope so, or they are going back laugh.gif )

yay.gif - see you there!

I have eight application forms now, nine if you include organiser pianocrazy. Thank you to those of you who have sent in forms! smile.gif Around 33 of the allocated 80 minutes for solos/ensembles has been filled now (this is taking people who have paid), so there's still a reasonable amount of space left, but don't leave it too late!

Closing date for this concert is Saturday 22nd August - this cannot be extended, as running orders/extra impromptu ensemble spaces/accompanists will need to be sorted out. I'll be collecting the next lot of forms this Thursday (6th). smile.gif
barry-clari
Just off to collect the next lot of forms : I'll acknowledge receipt over the next couple of days.

I'll be collecting forms three more times : on Monday 10th, Thursday 13th and Saturday 22nd August. This event is filling rapidly though - so apply early to avoid disappointment!
