Hi Fluteys!

I teach Saxophone, Clarinet and Flute, and am teaching myself the piano and EWI.

I have always found that out of all the instruments, I feel less able to express myself on the flute...until recently! Having discovered the wonders of Ian Clarke and his compositions, I have been totally inspired and have been busy listening to his album.

I have bought 'Hypnosis' which is my favourite on the cd (but am having a little difficulty with top B and C and the speed of the high note sections, but I did only get it last week!). I did Sunstreams for grade 8 last year. I still don't easily class myself a flautist though.

I have also bought 'Maya' which arrived last week which is for 2 flutes (open holes are desirable but not essential) and a pianist.

I am looking for a local (Derbyshire/Notts) forum member who may like to have a go. I would imagine you would need to be about grade 8 as it has repeated sections of double tonguing etc.

If anyone is interested please let me know!

If I was closer to you, I'd be there! sad.gif
Played it in a concert with a friend a few years ago, it's such a gorgeous piece!

Isn't it just! It's a real shame you're not closer, but i'm very jealous as I think Ian Clarke is doing something around your way in October. I have emailed him to see if he can come 'up north'! we'll see!

Happy fluting!

Ooo, is he? I'll have to look out for that! I saw him do a workshop at a University near me a few years back which was really good! smile.gif

I hope you find somebody to play 'maya' with!

OH! I would've so been up for doing that biggrin.gif But I live very very very far away unfortunately rolleyes.gif Good luck with finding someone - it's such a great piece. And I love Hypnosis as well, I did it for my grade 8, and the fast top b-c section is very very evil ph34r.gif
