I would prefer 21 November or the late winter/spring 2010 option as my pupils are likely to be performing at the local Christmas Tree Festival on 28 November.

If event was in london area I may be tempted to come. Depends on orchestral schedule however I have nothing planned for the two dates in November.

I prefer 21 November - it will be in SE (Greenwich area)?
it would be helpful for me! note.gif

Yes, it will be SE London, and probably Greenwich. Sorry, it may not be immediately obvious from the title, the forum automatically changes the 'E' in 'SE' to a lower case letter...

Would be good to see you there biggrin.gif

What's a playday? Sounds fun...certainly geographically and temporally convenient given for me given that it's right after York smile.gif Barry, explain! What goes on?

Basically, I turn up with a load of ensemble music. You all turn up with various instruments, we play through the music, then we go to a restaurant to socialise biggrin.gif

This is a link to the Taunton playday, which runs on a similar basis, though with size of venue and logistics, it's likely we'll only be able to do the large ensemble in London. smile.gif
Swisscello
Daughter's exeat that day not quite sure if it makes it better or worse but that's potentially two cellos. Following week would be one (possibely more reliable?)

Look forward to hearing more.

I suspect that term-time Saturdays make it difficult for me, but given the proximity and depending on the timings I may be able to drop in for a bit (or at least for the pizza.....).

smile.gif Hi, Could you please tell me you got a final date?
and time and venue - if I can.

Sorry to keep on asking you, I have a rehearsal on both sundays before Dec concert, so would be nice if you have it.

Thank you,

Venue is booked (same place as for last year's single reed day, in Greenwich).

Will be 28th November, 12:30 arrival for a 1pm start, until 5pm. After which we will retire to an eaterie biggrin.gif

Open to any instrument at all, you'll need to be c. grade 2 standard minimum, up to beyond grade 8 (I'll cater for the whole span). smile.gif

I'll do a form really soon. smile.gif

Such a shame... I do have the 28th off, BUT... we've been invited to a wedding on that day.

I know which day I'd prefer, BUT... I'd better go to the wedding or there will be big trouble...

Roll on the ELCC Play Day in London in January.

All the best to all, regards, Peter.

Although... there is a Thameside Clarinet Choir Play Day on 15th November.
I am able to make this. Hooray.

Regards, Peter.

That's great - hope to meet lots of you there ..... although it would be useful to know where 'there' is as I have no idea where the single reed day was last year!

Really looking forward to it, although I'm very much at the grade 2 rather than the grade 8 end of the scale.

Yes, me too! 20 minutes drive! Is there any car parking place around the venue? Next to (behind) cinema one?
But I remember it will be fully booked soon and strict parking hour...?

I am looking forward to see new music friends!
Thank you very much for organaizing.

Parking isn't the best : there is some very limited on-street. There are a couple of proper car parks in the town centre though (about 7-8 minutes walk from the venue).

Public transport = Greenwich DLR/mainline is about 90 seconds away.

Venue is the West Greenwich Arts Centre. Please note, there isn't a piano in there. This event will be a playday on any form of woodwind/string/brass/percussion smile.gif

Barry, are you able to confirm that the DLR is working that day. I can't see any disruptions for that weekend (and fingers crossed there aren't!), but I'm not sure I'm looking on the right part of the TFL website.

DLR is fine, Jubilee is fine Waterloo-Stratford. Big closure that weekend is no Circle Line, and no District from Whitechapel to Earl's Court.

Southeastern Trains have yet to announce their engineering work for 28th November, once I know, I'll post it here.

If there's enough support for this first venture, I'll do another one sometime in 2010. Can't be any more specific than that at the moment, it'll depend on what I'm doing and fitting around other forum events. smile.gif

Parking in Greenwich is all pay and display - £1.30 per hour

Beware that to be sure to get a space on a Saturday you probably need to be there quite a bit before 12.30.

I won't be there I'm afraid, been racking my brain to remember why the 28th November rings bells - I've got a big band gig that evening, combined with my regular jazz class earlier in the day that's about as much playing as I can manage in one day.

The good thing though is that I expected the big band gig to be on the 14th which would have ruled out the RNCM sax day - at least that's now a possibility.

Hmmm, Barry, you know how much I enjoyed the Finale yesterday at the Chester concert?

And you know I said I would like to go to an Orchestral Playday to get some more of that type of music-making?

Well, I have just looked in my diary, and I have to be in London for a meeting on the evening of......27th November biggrin.gif . As it is one of my annual late finishing meetings, I will need to book accommodation for that night (I usually stay with friends in Essex).

So now you know that I will be not far away on the morning of the 28th November, can you guess what I am thinking? unsure.gif
