I will be sitting for violin dip later this week. Just wondering, do the copies for the examiner have to include the piano part, or just the violin part, or both? It seems that giving them the piano part would only provide more for them to pick on (ensemble, etc..)

Also how long is a reasonable estimation for time between pieces (including retuning, changing music etc)? I recently timed my programme and its just only touching 30mins.

Interesting questions, and I notice how unusual it is that no replies have been forthcoming yet...

As a violinist contemplating starting DipABRSM soon, I would imagine that the examiner's copies should include both the piano and soloists parts, to give a full picture (allowing consideration of ensemble, etc).

Timings between items should be kept to a reasonable minimum, but if your programme is only just touching 30 mins, then a quick retune between your longer items could be useful...

What an interesting question! One day in a year or so I Hope I will need to know the answer myself so that I can do a diploma on the flute.

N.B. looking at the date of your post I assume you have now take the exam: Hope it went well and what was the answer?
