where I was travelling for the most part to and from primary school in the early 80s! laugh.gif

Glad you're enjoying your fluting. Does your clarinet still get plenty of exercise?

blink.gif How on earth have you managed to get to diploma standard in two months? ohmy.gif I know that you do occasionally get people who do grade 8 a year or so after starting the flute. However, they are usually people who have huge holes in their technique and manage to scrape through because the pieces suit them and the peculiarites of their technique. I saw a youtube clip recently of a lass who passed grade 8 a year after starting, and she sounded pretty awful... (and I'm surprised she passed unless she played a lot, lot better in the exam). wacko.gif But diploma standard in two months... unsure.gif

Sorry to be doubting, but are you sure that you are diploma standard? And if you are that standard in such a short space of time, why not not grade 7/8 as a practice run if you want to do a flute exam before you do the diploma? unsure.gif

Yes, but she says that she was intending to do the diploma and has decided to do grade 4/5 instead - which makes it sound like she is of the standard where she could do a diploma if she wanted to. unsure.gif To be diploma standard in two months is awfully quick even for someone with exceptional talent. blink.gif

Edit: just seen the other replies and it makes more sense now. smile.gif Clarinet was the missing word! laugh.gif
