Well, I tried a Pearl flute when I was flute shopping the other week. I played about three notes on it before deciding that I hated it laugh.gif

...and that isn't an exaggeration! laugh.gif

There are at least two forum members I can think of who regularly play Pearl flutes, and love them, though. They are good instruments, and as Babybird2 quite correctly says, it's a very personal thing. smile.gif

MMmmmmm - are they do you think on the same level then as my Jupiter 511 with silver lip plate ????????

Depends which model you're looking at - some may be much better than your Jupiter. Generally a Pearl is superior to a Jupiter if your comparing like-for-like.

I have a Pearl - it's not "my ideal flute in the world" if money were no object, but it's a good flute smile.gif reliable mech, nice headjoint, speaks well through the register and so on smile.gif

I think it might be worth checking the instrument's history. It's not a model I recognise and it may be quite old. I've only seen pearl flutes where the model number starts with PF, e.g. my ten year old one is a PF-661E. smile.gif

Edit: the N at the start also makes me wonder if it's nickel plated -but I could be completely wrong and am happy to be corrected on this.

I played a pearl flute for about 6 months before I had the opportunity to by my Altus 1307RB for way below retail price biggrin.gif

Pearl is ok. One good thing about them I have found is that they have quite a large blow hole that other flutes, which some older new learners seem to quite like I have found...

Ok Ok - I'm put off the Peal flute ! I think I'll just wait and see where the Jupiter takes me - I am going to try a Yammy this week just to compare - just off for a swim - boy it's hot here !!
