I have a feeling that ' yay.gif ' you posted Flossie = 'go on b-c, do a 'cello exam'... laugh.gif

I'm going to join in with Flossie GO BARRY CLARI GO GO! party2.gif

also was thinking: if you get someone to play violin and someone to play viola in our area, me the double bass and you cello, we can get together on an occasional basis and play some nice string quartets smile.gif

I'm nowhere near good enough yet to be able to do that (only just had 4 lessons!), but it's something I'd love to do in the future jojo, yes biggrin.gif

There might be some mileage for this at a forum event sometime, Jo. smile.gif B-C, BB2 and myself were intending to do a string trio at some point as we're a similar standard - or will be once Barry catches us up (which he'll do quite quickly). We could maybes do a string quartet at some point as well with me on Chloe, BB2 on viola, Barry on cello and you on Gandalf - just bear in mind that you're a lot better than the rest of us. smile.gif

Nope! laugh.gif

I'm concentrating on making sure I can do everything correctly without causing long term damage to my technique or my physical well being at the moment!...

... Anyone else got their dates yet??

Lois

2nd December Grade 5 Violin.

I did grade 1 in 1970, stopped playing for 37 years and started from scratch again two years ago. I took grade 3 last year (distinction) as my first "new learner" exam. I don't like even numbers, so I'm going straight for grade 5. I wish my fingers would work as fast as my brain. I also wish I didn't have to wear varifocals!

Piano grade 8 - 6th December

Wow - that's quick progress! Weren't you about to do grade 6 last October?

I'm doing grade 2 Jazz Piano on 17 November. I'm very miffed to learn that I won't be able to play the lovely new Yamaha grand that our centre now has - on the day of the exam they are putting up raked seating in the main hall, so exams are consigned to the not-very-good upright in the second exam room. sad.gif I'm playing Softly as in a Morning Sunrise for my B piece, and it would have sounded lovely on the Yamaha. Ah well ... you can't have everything you want!

I've been asked to provide a copy of my grade 5 theory certificate (which I actually do still have!) and wondered if there is likely to be a problem with it being such a long time ago? I took it in 1973 - I won't have to do it again will I?

No. Mine's even older - June 1967 and I sent them a copy for my Grade 6 trombone (exam date = 17th Nov ohmy.gif) and it was fine.

Mine is about that old - and it is in my maiden name while the exam entry is in my married name - and my entry has been accepted without question!

Good luck nova
