The RNCM really are superb at hiding things on their website. It definitely needs re-designing.

I stumbled on an oboe masterclass on 23rd Oct with Alex Klein. I have it it on very good authority he is "the man" (or one of them). I was looking forward to seeing him at the IDRS conference in Birmingham, but he cancelled. Now I figured he wouldn't come all the way from America or Brazil to give 1 masterclass at the RNCM, so I did some poking around on the internet. Eventually I discovered on the BASBWE website, reference to the RNCM Wind Weekend. Going back to the RNCM site and poking around a bit more I found the details (such as they are at the moment).

However, the best place for details is http://basbwe.wordpress.com/tag/rncm/

RNCM students will be performing Mozart's Gran Partita and oboists note, Alex Klein is performing in the final concert.

I was about to post about this weekend too! Bit of a plug... MUWO will be performing, along with other wind orchestras across the weekend. I mention MUWO though because I'm in it laugh.gif and because we are conducted by the current chair of BASBWE. I'm also struggling with the RNCM website to find information at the moment!

On the RNCM website you have to go to "What's On", "Explore What's On", then on the right hand side select "View Festivals" where you will find it listed. Or go here:

But the BASBWE link I posted earlier gives more details.

We have been to this the last two years and the brochure information is probably better than the website though it's not complete either.

The masterclasses are for anyone around Grade 5. Emsoboe did the oboe one the first year. Last year she had a superb one with Peter Lloyd who did wonders for her Flute playing. He was fantastic with her, treating her no differently to the RNCM students who were also participating.

In the afternoon we went to an improvisation workshop which was really good.
