I've been looking at the Concertante for Alto Sax by Clare Grundman as a possibility for my pupils taking TG Grade 8. I really like the piece and I think they could manage it but I'm a bit confused by the ending! The syllabus just says to play the complete thing but does that mean finishing just after 282 or playing the entire cadenza and ending just after 303? Also, if anyone knows this piece I'd appreciate any thoughts you have on it. Thanks!

Clare Grundman is probably best known for his wind band arrangements. I don't know the Alto Sax Concertante all that well, but it's fairly typical Grundman fare, and I think it's a nice piece to play, if tricky in places.

If on any piece it says 'complete', it'll literally mean that. If they want the cadenza missed out, they'll say so. smile.gif

I thought that was what it would mean, but hoping it wasn't!
Thanks smile.gif

Is Dreams of You on the syllabus? Do that, it's soooo gorgeous and a placement pupil of mine got full marks in it for her grade 8 a few months back, oh yeh party1.gif.

I think it's on the Grade 8 jazz sax syllabus, but not the classical one
