im wondering,
what is the general (or expected) amount? intensity? of emotion, hand-movements and
overall acting when singing an aria for conservatoire auditions?
should you literally 'be the part' and act at least for that moment as if you're on stage when singing,
or should you just stand with arms by the side and sing like a good old student?
any thoughts?
personal audition experience would be extremely helpful! thank you!

Hello Belcanto.
A video was posted earlier today giving an example of good stage presentation but I have to say that it was not to my taste on many levels. It will depend on your audition pieces of course but I would suggest that you should sing as you would to an audience and yes, act where necessary. Show emotion in your face , your voice and with gestures.
Perhaps if you post your choice of programme the singers here may offer further advice.
