9.58 is a jog for him. I bet he can get a time that is closer to 9secs than 10.
SueHM
Apparently he reckons he can run 9.4......
Violin Hero
I can strangely believe him.

It was amazing to watch. Michael Johnson was dumbstruck. A big Yay for Jessica Ennis too.

Anyone else and I'd say "yeah right" - Bolt? I could believe it...

It's a long time since I've seen anyone quite so arrogant who has just cause to be so!!!

Utterly amazing. I think what got to me the most was the wonderful Michael Johnson being struck dumb by Bolt's performance...

And, yes, HOORAY for Jess Ennis - brilliant!!

And let's face it, Johnson is no mean athlete himself (though he, from what I have seen of him, doesn't appear to have an arrogant bone in his body), so it takes something special to strike him dumb...

If I didn't see it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it possible to take over a tenth of a second off the world record.

BRILLIANT!

And well done to Jessica especially after last year's disappointments.
More British Gold medals to follow?

And just in case anyone missed it yesterday...

COME ON YOU SPURS!

Regards, Peter.

Oh I don't think he's at all arrogant - just a showman. Sprinting is a gladiatorial event involving a lot of mental preparation and not a little psyching out of the opposition. I've seen Bolt interviewed away from the track and he seems quite a pleasant chap.

Great, inspiring performance. But I gather that his starting technique could do with some work, and he still seems to have to glance behind him at the competition! Sort out those things, and ... what? 9.4? 9.35?

Whatever - one of the greats already.
barry-clari
Claudia and I watched a re-run of this last night, after I posted above.

We were speechless...

And for me, that's quite unusual!....

I thought electricity moved faster than that, more like 299,792,458 m / s, so it should have traveled 2,872,011,748 m. I'd get that seen to myself. blush.gif

.....and apparently he's was a bit tired.

A medal for Jenny Meadows too in the 800m.

Almost forgot. Gold for Philips Idowu at last (despite all the ironmongery ill.gif ).
