I just opened a new packet of Fruit Pastilles and found that the first four of them were black - my favourite flavour! WOOOO!!

This confectionary-related joyfulness reminds me of the day I bit into a Kit-Kat chunky and found that the whole bar was sans wafer, i.e. solid chocolate. The mere thought of that just makes me grin

They used to sell them in the hall bar when I was at Uni. If I were studdying in the evening I would go down to the bar about 9pm for a break, and have a Yorkie and then go back to my books.

They talk about the last Rolo, but in my view, yielding the last black Fruit Pastille is a measure of real love!

This reminds of when I was about 10, we were told at school by the dinnerladies to make sure we had some fruit in our lunchboxes. It caused a lot of comments such as 'But this is a fruit winder.' and 'My sandwich has strawberry jam in it. I don't need fruit!'.

Lol! This reminds me of school - a few years ago they decided to stop selling us the usual biscuits, cakes, crisps etc at tuck, and replaced the nice things with apples. Seriously. They cleared out all the vending machines and put health bars and smoothies in them (except the 3rd floor one by the Junior common room - and nobody ever did work out where were getting the food from!) They've given us the other stuff back now because no-one was buying anything at tuck!

THey cleared out our vending machines a couple of years ago too. Every luchtime my form used to go and clear the machines out of skittles, but then they replaced everything with fruitjuice and cereal bars. THey occasionally put shortbreads in there now, but we still miss the skittles.

You lot got it better than I did. For my 6th form days the school had no vending machines.

Aww! It was awful without the vending machine I'm not sure why we were so upset though - I probably only buy stuff from tuck and the vending machines a few times a term I think it was the principle of the matter - my school is literally in the middle of nowhere so there's nowhere to buy anything on the way, and we start at 8.15 and end between 4.30 - 6pm (depending on if we have prep duty etc) so our only source of nourishment is the sweets!

For me it is not a problem as there is a high street close to where I went to school. I don't attend that school anymore, seeing as I have completed my A levels.

Our VIth form common room had a tea machine which could be 'encouraged' to vend for free by sticking one's hand up the beverage chute and pressing the appropriate lever(s). The downside was you got exactly the same beverage as the last 'paid for' vend. Not good if it was the only person who paid was that weird spotty bloke from 6L who liked the (disgusting) powdered vegetable soup...

Perhaps we should form some sort of club where you mail the ones you don't want off to other members!

But we'd end up with barely any though since there's only ever about one green one in a pack.

I always attribute it to bad luck and assume that a black pastille fan somewhere is fuming that he has mostly greens.... s0d's law and all that

My top three are red, then green , then black. Not so keen on orange.

When I can be bothered to turn on my computer, I'll post the picture of the fruit pastilles I got out of about 10 packets. It's not exactly a huge sample but the imbalances were pretty obvious. *Considers buying 50 tubes in order to do the experiment properly *

Fruit pastilles numbers 1,2,3 and 4 are orange, orange, red and red. (No, I haven't bought 50 packs yet, I found the end of a tube in my bag. )

I'll get a pack from the vending machine later this afternoon, purely for scientific purposes of course... I'll make everyone else in the team eat the ones I don't want, though!

I say the black ones are best...daughter goes for the green.

I just went to buy some in order to report the distribution of colours, but they had none left. They did have packets of 'all blacks' though !

That reminds me, the all-black packets don't count! (unless they have a normal wrapper. )
