Oh dear. lol

I think the problem is that the bassoon repertoire isn't really known.

That's what happens when you send a bassoon sceptic to review a bassoon concert. Pretty stupid really.

That's just a load of rubbish. I don't claim to be a bassoon expert, but I sit next to one and orchestra and it has quite a nice sound.

I'm here! biggrin.gif
Bassoons are great!

Not that I'm biased, or anything... laugh.gif

Seriously, though, a bassoon when played nicely can have a lovely sweet tone. And it's got a huge range - I think it's even slightly more than the clarinet.
Lizbun - I agree, but another problem (and normally the biggest one) is that you have to admit it, the bassoon looks ridiculous, so a lot of people see it as only having comic value. Grrr! mad.gif

I love the bassoon. I really want to play it, but i think I've already got enough on my plate laugh.gif

I love the sound and look of bassoons. I wish I could afford one sad.gif

I get the feeling from the review that critic just didn't want to be there!

I learnt bassoon as a teenager and wish I still had it. (My mum sold it without telling me sad.gif ) I can't justify the expense of buying a replacement.
