harpist, I'm going into my 2nd year on the BEd at the RSAMD, so if you have any questions just let me know and I'll be happy to help!

Would be lovely to have a harpist on the course - everyone will love you when it comes to Practical Musicianship time!

Good luck with the deadline and your audition! (which for the RSAMD won't be til February next year smile.gif)

Hi,

Just wondering as you've auditioned before.. Do you know what the theory test at Trinity involves? I assume it can;t be much more than a level music standard?

I'm auditioning on guitar by the way at Trinity, RCM, RNCM and Birmingham

Cheers

Hi,
yeah the trinity test is a bit of a joke really, it doesnt matter very much!
the first bit is dictation kind of stuff, they give you a few of each thing:
rhythms, melodies, chords and maybe one really hard one with all of them, i cant quite remember!
and then theres a essay question section, you get a choice of questions, but theyre really pretentious like "music is the font of all knowledge, discuss..."
so theres not alot you can do to prepare!
the dictation stuff is 3 questions of each i think, and the 1st one is really easy, everyone should get it, the 2nd is medium and the 3rd is near impossible and they dont expect everyone to get it!

hope that helps! :-)

Good luck saxy-thing with your auditions smile.gif

I'm loving it! In first year you do lots of different things, at the RSAMD you'll do Music History, Analysis, Compositional Techniques, Practical Musicianship, Vocal Skills and Keyboard Skills; then at Glasgow Uni you do Education Studies, Teaching Preparation, Leadership, and you do two placements in a primary school. It's a really busy course but it's well worth it, and it's good fun too!

If you have any more questions feel free to PM me! Good luck everyone with auditions soon!

Yes - Birmingham Conservatoire appears to be the week 9th - 13th November. I got my notification by email today.
saxy-thing
yeh, i've only had birmingham so far though....11th november!

There was me thinking that the CUKAS people and colleges operated a watch on audition times. My youngest daughter has RWCMD, RSAMD and Birmingham Con. at noon on consecutive days!!!, a lot of tiring mileage or expensive train journeys...

if you contact them you can reschedule some of these auditons, as resting in between is vital.

All the best to everyone with auditions coming up at conservatoires. smile.gif
I had offers last year from RNCM and Birmingham and am so glad I chose Birmingham! Everyone's so friendly and I hope you'll feel at home here.
