Thanks for all the info.
I'm still not connected to the router although I did try switching it on and off. Hopefully a friend will be able to look at the whole thing for me.
I hope you get it sorted Lottie, I'm sure it really isn't the poor old iPod.

However, I have managed to work out itunes and the istore and have installed some very useful 'applications' onto the Thing. I now have a to-do list and an address book, a calendar and a game (well two games

). So it's on it's way to being a useful Thing!!! Today I'm hoping to load some music and some of my own cds onto it too.
Jolly good. Have you downloaded apps for contacts and calendar or are you using the standard ones in the iPod? They are the ones I use on the iPhone and I reckon they work very well (though I use a mac and I don't know how well they sync with PC applications).

Strangely my phone has more 'apps' than I realised so perhaps I should use that as a personal organiser rather than the Thing. I was hoping to lighten my pockets really
I was eventually sold on the iPhone by exactly that. As a phone it's stupidly expensive and on a contract I certainly don't get anywhere near the monthly allowances for calls and texts. But with all the other stuff it has I am at last persuaded to carry a "phone" around with me. Switched on too. Plus of course it has the huge advantage of internet access through 3GS (don't need to be connected with wi-fi). Even the camera is decent!!

Today I'm building my own website so I do feel as if I'm catching up with the average 5-year-old's knowledge of technology

Well I might work in IT but you're ahead of me there. I can't be bothered.
