I should think it's unlikely : it'd make people even more nervous. It is a very, very rare occurence to record any part of any forum event.

At my last pupil concert I caused quite a bit of upset by insisting on not being recorded. The result was that I played everything almost flawlessly (by my standards)

I think video cameras may be banned from my events - they put too much pressure on you to get things perfect.

Tip for out of Londoners:

If you come on a Bus via Oxford Street get off at the Marks and Spencer [Oxford Circus Branch]and walk straight through the ground floor out the back and there is Great Marlborough St and Schott Music.

If you come on the Underground get off at Oxford circus and take the Regent St South exit, walk south along Regent Street for 2 mins, towards the Liberty Department Store (BigTudor building!) and thats Great Marlborough Street on your left. Another 2 mins and you're at Schott.

...or alternatively turn into Oxford Street (heading east towards Tottenham Court Road, exit 2 I believe) and take the first road on the right (Argyll Street), past the London Palladium (Sister Act signs all over it at the moment), and turn left at the end of the road into Great Marlborough Street and Schott is a short distance on your right.

As a heads-up, DaisyChain is taking the free slot at late notice, which breaks the rules a little bit, but trust me, she is really nice and won't make anyone feel uncomfortable!

First of all, well done Sol . You really have caught the idea and spirit of organising a low pressure, fun playday, a very, very top class job from you!

And I thoroughly enjoyed listening to all of you play, and I enjoyed my duet and my little improvising session!

Not that I'm offering to be an accompanist - my piano skills are a bit too limited for that.

Quite possibly : equally I think there's mileage in similar sorts of small get-togethers like this in different areas of the UK

Just a quick note to say that both myself and other half really enjoyed the day and it was great to meet you all and hear some lovely played pieces. I would definitely be interested in attending another event, although it will definitely be with the aid of a beta blocker next time!

I was bowled over by DC's playing of the Gnossiene, that was absolutely beautiful - I have the music here in a book and am just looking over it now - my head is a bit fuzzy after last night's shenanigans though so I think I'll leave any attempts until later!

Great to meet you all, what a fantastic way to spend an afternoon. God only knows what they thought in the shop about our Chopsticks duets!

Just as an aside : the 'other' piece we considered to be 'Chopsticks', is actually called 'Der Flohwalzer', and info about it can be found here.

I always think of both of those tunes as Chopsticks... I don't know why! I've normally heard one played after the other so assumed they were the same piece!

Thank you! I learned it deliberately a) because I like all the Gnossiennes and b) my teacher described it as "repetitcious nonsense"! I used to play it to annoy him if there was time left over at the end of a lesson!

Seeing as Jo and eldatom were talking about the G5 syllabus, I decided to take a look over it this morning... I've been going over the B:3 Schumann despite being a bit hung over and quite like it Slow is good!

In the Schumann Von fremden piece, what's with the 2-4 suggested fingering in the LH? For the first bar, for example, am I supposed to do 2+4, use thumb for D, then bring over 2 for the G? I don't want to discuss it with my teacher, obviously

EDIT: Ah nvm, I see you are supposed to use the RH.
