At the moment I am working on In the Groove (Cormack) Grade 5 and On the Swing (Hammond) Grade 4. Both great catchy tunes, can anyone recommend some other jazzy pieces of a similar standarde?
Digby
Try the Pam wedgewood, Green jazzing about - all have very green environmentally friendly titles but are quite good fun.

Yes, the wonders of Amazon Prime. Cost us £40 for the year (all household members included), guaranteed delivery next day, no postage charge.

Even if there is one piece that I can add to my growing list of Jazzy party pieces (by memory, of course) then it will be worth it. £7.50 is nothing nowadays, easy to spend that on a visit to Starbucks!

Has it arrived - have you found anything you like?

Along with Digby's suggestion, there is is also PWs Jazzin' About series. For something the same standard as Green Jazzin' About, then order 'Jazzin About'. Be careful, because there is a Really Easy JA, and an Easy JA etc, so it is easy to get the title wrong. laugh.gif

If you like Mike Cornick's stuff, then a very popular title with my lot is 'Easy Jazzy Piano Bk 1' - half a dozen attractive jazz-style pieces at about grades 4-5.

I use these books all the time; they are hugely popular with my pupils.

Me too - PW's "Jazzin' About" (and the earlier ones) rule for cheesy jazz-type stuff biggrin.gif

I have to say (sorry Digby!), that I think "Green Jazzin' About" is the most rubbish one ph34r.gif
("More Jazzin' About" is not that great either imo)

Is it too early to think about "Christmas jazzin' about?"
I had my copy out last night.... blush.gif

There are actually two versions of this. I lost my original and ordered a new one, which is mostly duets, so you'd need somebody to play with, but then I found the original again. I'm not sure if the original is out of print, or what. Both are good, anyway.

tongue.gif Personally I'm not overly keen on any of them, give me a bit of Prokofiev any day, but just happen to have a few people using green at the moment and I find it more of a dipping in and out of kind of book than the other ones.

I find PW a bit uneven - the only one I use of these seems to be Jazzin' about Styles. This has quite a few that seem to go down well.

Mike Cornick's music is fab smile.gif On The Right Track is good. Also worth looking at are the Cool Piano series which is full of original jazzy music (ooh just noticed you're playing On the Swing - great piece)

Another MC title that I used recently with a puple - 'Boogie Piano' about grades 3-5.

I will get hold of Right Track and Cool Piano - can't have too wide a list of pieces for the kids.
