Just did my grade 4 piano and completely mucked up my first piece due to nerves ( Gavot by John Alcock) - scales, aural and other peices I think were ok.. Feel awful - Can I still have passed?

Yes you can. It may not have been disastrous, so don't assume the worst.

The fact you recovered and played the others ok is quite a feat!

You'll probably find it wasn't nearly as bad as you think. Anyway it's possible to lose quite a lot of marks on one piece and still get quite a decent pass.

Hope it's good news

Of course, you can make up the points in a different section!!! It's 100 points to pass out of 150 so even if you completely mucked up on that first piece you could still have passed easily!

Of course you can pass. If you didn't, I think I will eat my hat ( if I have one ). Well, at least you did much much better than I. I destroy 70 percent of my scales and etc. Good luck. I think you will at least get a merit.

P.S : I get a pass.Thank God for that.

Don't worry!
I completely mucked up my the same piece as u did in my exam + ended up getting 27 for it, better than the piece that I played best! You say your other things went fine - so i'm sure you'll pass! Exams know that u can be nervous - don't worry

I did! (well, flute not piano)

One of my students crashed in that piece at the bottom of the first page, the examiner just said, 'if it was going to crash anywhere it would be there' and he still passed the piece.

I'm sure you'll still have passed, because it sounds like the rest of your exam went okay.

When I took my Grade 3 flute I made a mistake in my first piece and had to stop for a few bars before joining in again, and my scales went quite badly too. I did pass though (in fact, the marks for all three pieces were pretty similar, even though I thought the first one went really badly).

Suggest you steam it with onions and courgettes, then, and serve with a bearnaise sauce, pepper, and a bottle of Sancerre.
