I take it this is piano...

You practise. Every day. For as long as you can manage. And practise well.

Buy yourself a scale book, that should clarify the scale problem.

grade 1 is easy.if u can play all the notes right.u will definitely pass.and wif some more expressions, u'll pass wif distinction.for contrary motion in C , it's not that hard actually.for me, the arpegios even harder. tongue.gif try harder.jsut try it seperately.and then combine them together.
i like piano
and actually i've also just pass my grade 1 exam last year wif distinction too.i never expect this.so it prove that my teacher's word is true.the standard for grade 1 aint that high.

Contrary motion...

If you take the top and bottom staves in each key, that is how you play contrary motion. Hope this helps. Jsut practise and think positively and you'll do fine happy.gif

good luck! smile.gif

i sat grade 1 a couple of weeks ago.

this was what i had to do-

start with both thumbs on c then, with your left hand play c scale downwards for an octave then back up an octave to start position.

with right hand play c scale upwards for an octave then downward for a octave to start postion

Yes - you only have to do one in contrary motion for grade one (scale C).

You need other scales one hand at a time, but you don't need G and D in contrary.

Dont woory about a thing its just A Heard of Butterflies in your Stomach but i have recently passed my grade one and all the people are really nice and if you play a violin you will probally have an ecompany so you will have somebody you know

just focus on playing the same fnger in each hand at the same time, keeping steady and smooth, and remembering to move thumbs under for the 4th note. That should get you up nicely, then coming down just put middle fingers over after you've playd the thumb and you'll get back to where you started.
