And here it comes: My first selfmade renaissance recorder!

Its a very light plum with ginger block.

Looks superb! Pardon my ignorance, but how do you ensure it is "tuned"?

It's lovely!
I like the idea of a ginger block; I
know it probably doesn't taste of ginger, but I like the idea it might

It smells of ginger. And in the beginning, when the block was newly cut, you could taste it just a tiny little itsibitsi bit.
@stetenorve - you have to tune it of course. The placing of the tone holes is one part of the procedure and then you fine tune it by opening the wind flow in various places more and more until it is in tune.

It actually sounds lovely. I wish I could play it. But I am a flutist, not a recorder player. Although, I at least can do the scale. It has renaissance fingering and works well from C' to D''', which is full range of a renaissance recorder.

Wow! I wish I had a recorder as nice-looking as that

but as Flossie said, not with German fingerings

What a beauty. I love the simplicity of form in renaissance instruments.

Try a Mollenhauer Dream. Renaissance "style" available with English fingering.

Don't tempt me.

I'm already trying to save up for an alto flute...
The alto flute I have a use for which isn't just self-indulgance, I can't say the same thing about another recorder.
I like the wood on lemontree's recorder

and the Mollenhauer dream ones are painted.

It's not German fingering. It's Renaissance fingering. Another very different one from the Barock fingerings. But it's not that difficult, although I might have to admit that since I don't play I am not used to a very particular one.
By the way, why don't you like different fingerings?

I have enough fingerings to remember with all the different instruments I already play.

Yes Lemontree's does look lovely. You can get the Dream in plain pearwood you know

(though mine's blue).

That's so beautiful! I can't imagine being able to make something like that.
I'd love to hear it played.
