MEH.
So after spending a week in hospital in Inverness being cut open in May, then spending 2 ghastly nights in York Hospital in September, I thought my bad luck was over.
Well, today I did myself a nasty.

I was sitting cross-legged on my bed for some time, but decided to get up to fetch something. As I stepped forward I became suddenly aware that I couldn't feel my legs from my knees down and as that thought struck me, I felt my right ankle give in beneath me. I've never heard such an awful cracking noise, and found myself on the floor, with my right ankle at a funny angle, and my left foot squashed beneath me.
It didn't hurt for a few seconds.
Then the feeling started coming back.

We sat in A&E for 2 hours, as people came and went. People came in after me and were seen within minutes, most of them being sent home for not really having anything wrong with them.

It turned out that they had lost my file. 3 times.
So, it could have been a lot worse, but I've cracked a bone and sprained it all rather spectacularly. The ballot for next year's marathon is out this week... Seeing as this is apparently going to affect how I walk for at least a month, I'm hoping I didn't get a place this year.
(But still off to uni in 3 days

despite having to crawl upstairs and cling onto walls etc etc)
Floss xxx
Oh sorry to hear that Floss, I remember when I cracked a bone in my ankle and apart from being swollen it came up black and blue. I suppose at least I was having fun when I did mine, I was playing tennis, and fell, my daughter heard the crack from the other end of the court, and then I passed out.
I didn't actually go to hospital as I was away on holiday and wasn't going to have my holiday spoilt by sitting in A and E. However when I got back home.
Then no sooner had the ankle cleared up and I was running to get out and broke my toes as I ran past my exercise bike! For a spell of a few years, my feet couldn't seem to do anything right.
Good luck at uni and hope it wont cause you too much problem.
