I think there was a thread about this before but I can't seem to find it.

Who's signed up or intending to sign up for this?

We are going to be there on the Sunday but will be in the building Saturday.

How can you mislay MY thread. It was "Rncm Wind Weekend". Ah, I see, no wood.

I shall be there. Not quite sure what to go to yet.
Saturday will definitely be one of the performance workshops, though which one depends on what else I fancy going to. I think I would quite like to watch the conducting one. Looking forward to Gran Partita.

Sunday - Junior oboe or historical performance masterclass? I think I may go historical this year.
Senior masterclass oboe, yes.
Scratch Wind Band 2. I suppose it's tempting but clashes.

I will also be at Alex Klein's public oboe masterclass on the Friday evening before.

I'll wave to you both on Saturday. Not sure yet what Emsoboe will be doing on the Sunday. Think it might be something Flute related.

I'm going. Not decided which sessions yet though smile.gif

Please all come and see my wind band (Manchester University Wind Orchestra or MUWO to it's friends!) perform at lunchtime-ish on the Saturday! I'll be squeaking at the front. biggrin.gif

I have something else on that weekend so can't go sad.gif! Do they do this every year?

This is the third year we've known about it. The last two years it was only a one day event.

Yes, I've been going since 2004 so I'm sure it'll be on again next year! It's a two-day event this year because they've combined with BASBWE. Exciting!

Have just seen this thread. Not sure if I want to participate but will probably come along to watch and see what goes on, then maybe join in next year. Will wave to people I know, (notmusicmum, tooty and pushpull) and say hello.

There maybe workshops that you want to participate in. I've not got a list myself but if I understand correctly some of them are just groups playing together. I wouldn't discount being involved bring your instrument and then decide.

Well I've whinged on in the past about how dreadful the RNCM website is so don't expect to find much detail there. But:

http://www.basbwe.org/rncmww.htm

gives details of what's happening. Even if you don't want to take part in any playing the masterclasses and recitals are definitely worth a trip. I would suggest you register in advance as they are sending out a flyer to find what sessions people want to go to - I guess so they can figure out whether concert hall or broom cupboard is required for each.

My son and I will be attending on the Sunday, he’s really looking forward to it.

I've now signed up for this and having seen the list of workshops am intending to bring along my clarinet and maybe participate. The programme looks really good and I can't believe it's all free biggrin.gif

Oops. Just reminded me to get my booking form sent back.

Just filled out my booking form at band rehearsal tonight. smile.gif We're playing in the 11am slot on the Saturday if you want to see us!

I won't be there this year, but thinking well ahead, how much do people think I would get out of the event if I were to go next year (studied clarinet at uni, advanced flautist/sax player, can play Jingle Bells appallingly on oboe laugh.gif ). smile.gif

The workshops are in two sections one aimed at up to grade 6, the other above.

The Senior Masterclasses if anything like previous years are good. Particularly if you play in them.

In the past they have been for all wind instruments except Sax.

Cool, and I assume I can apply to play in a masterclass smile.gif

I don't know about this year properly but the last two years they were very keen for people to participate other than their own students. They tried really hard to engage Music services and Schools with little success.

Yes, my car is full of leaflets which I'm slowly handing out to all my pupils!

I think it should be good this year. Can't say I've enjoyed the past few (please don't let there be any college staff on here...)

The first one wasn't up to much at all. Last years was great in that daughter got a lot out of it. Really good Flute Masterclass and the Improvisation workshop was great fun.

Going to have a good browse round the trade stalls as it sounds as if there will be lots more than before.
Arundodonuts
Well I had a great time. Anyone else?
tooty
I think it was better than great! It was fantastic.
What a turn out, all of the workshops and masterclasses that I attended were really interesting and informative.
flobiano
Glad you all enjoyed it.

I managed to pop in on Sunday afternoon just to look at the trade stalls but most of them had packed up by the time we got there. I had emailed the organiser and she said that they would start packing up at around 5pm, due to other commitments the earliest we could make it was 3pm and by then there wasn't much left. Fortunately Howarth's were still there so I managed to have a play on an S40 which was the main reason I'd gone! I had been warned on here that they may pack up early so not entirely surprising, but still was a bit disappointing - it is meant to be a full weekend so you would have thought they would stick it out till at least 4. Oh well.

Hopefully next year I'll be able to make a full weekend of it. smile.gif
Clare1986
I was only involved on the Saturday but I loved it. Performed in the morning with my band, had a great (if not brief!) workshop with Clark Rundell, and then spent the rest of the day watching over wind bands, catching up with old college friends, and looking at the trade stands and trying out clarinets. The final RNCM wind orchestra concert in the evening was an excellent way to end the day. biggrin.gif
