On the violin. My programe is completely un-varied so I'll probably be very told off for it! The trouble is for the Trinity ones you have to do complete sonatas so fitting other things in afterwards is tricky. Also not having a Viva means you don't get the chance to justify it so I'll have to try to on the programme notes instead!! (eg. 'both these pieces were written about 1880, but isn't it just amazing how different they are in style, form.... biggrin.gif )
The piano list is really good, which pieces are you thinking of doing? I was amazed there was no Bach on the violin list but there's plenty for the piano.

Good luck both of you.
Barring death, disease, deafness or disaster I shall be joining you next year.

Tell me, did you take your user name from the famous (in mainland Europe anyway) #### Bruna Bunny, or from some other source?

Edit: I can hardly believe it (what am I saying - ofcourse I can). The nanny auto-censor took exception to the man's name

D i c k Bruna

... and seriously Nanny, when you are this easy to fool - why do you bother?

Yayyyy Miffy!! Indeed I stole the name from 'Mr' Bruna.

Only just seen your thread here (I'm thinking of doing the LTCL violin in the summer) - I realise I'm a bit behind the times, however....what pieces did you choose for your programme? It seems, like me, you've found most things were written in 1888!

I'd rather do the LRSM as the reperoite gives so much more scope, but I just can't afford it.

I'd be very interested to know how you got on as I don't know anyone who's done this exam on violin.
miffy
Hi Jessy!
Well I did it! And passed!
The reason I did Trinity is partly because I went there many years ago so it seemed to fit, but mainly because 90% of the marks are on the performance and I really wanted my playing assessed, coming back to it after a long time, to prove I could still do it, if that makes sense?
I played Sarasate, Franck and Bacewitz.
I was initially really worried about the Sarasate and Franck being so similar in period, but of course in style they are so different, and one of the comments on my marksheet was that it was a well balanced programme, so what do I know? biggrin.gif

I found it exciting and terrifying all at once but would do it again in a heartbeat.
Good luck and keep in touch as to how you are going smile.gif

Well done, Miffy!

I just hope they don't keep you waiting too lng for the certificate - i think I waited 5 months for my ATCL one.

Thanks for the comments made about your programme. I am also thinking about Sarasate but that put me off the Franck because of the period..so now i know better too! (I've been working on the Brahms D minor for my main piece.) I haven't even managed to track down a copy of the Bacewicz.

Glad to hear about your 20 year performance gap - that was exactly my reason for embarking on the diploma exams.
mel2
Well done miffy - congratulations! biggrin.gif

I can imagine how you must be feeling - just don't hold your breath until the certificate arrives.
miffy
5 months??!

Funnily enough I saw a copy of the Bacewitz in my local music shop today!

Good luck with choosing your programme, I'm tentatively looking at the fellowship list, but want to work on technique for a bit first maybe.. smile.gif
jessy
And I've just managed to get hold of a copy of Bacewicz...finding shorter pieces of a suitable period for the programme seems to be the hard part. Piano syllabus is so much longer than everything else.

I'm impressed you're now lured by the Fellowship exam. I doubt I'll ever get that far, though - maybe LTCL in the summer if I get enough practice time between now and the entry date.
