Hi
I'm in the process of getting ready for the Viva Voce part of my Dip ABRSM in Piano Teaching. I've got a few ideas from the info provided on the syllabus but I found it very useful to read DCM Barton's post about his experience in the exam earlier this year. I just wondered whether anyone here has any more experiences to share?
How important is it to do background reading? I've borrowed a number of books from local libraries, but don't know how pertinent other teaching theories will be for the lowest level diploma (as opposed to the LRSM or FRSM). Does anyone have any info? Am I best to dwell on my own teaching methods and spend time thinking about what I actually do?
Also, I'm hoping they won't ask me about technical exercises I may give to pupils. Anyone have any comments?
