I posted in August asking about DipABRSM playing level versus LRSM (passed diploma last spring).

I mentioned I was putting Scriabin's Vers la Flamme on my LRSM program next year and enjoyed some interesting discussion about playing Scriabin.

I hope this is not inappropriate, but FWIW I recently posted a recording of Vers la Flamme on youtube along with a really nice little Medtner piece:

This is a Van Cliburn contest - if you like the performance, I'll be happy to get a few votes (you have to send the Cliburn folks an email asking for a ballot).

Anyway, hope you find it interesting.

Be gentle - both pieces are a bit early - a few months into working on them and never before played in public. I need to memorize Vers la Flamme (I'm using a foot pedal to turn pages on my mac laptop which is very chaotic on top of everything else going on!).
Cheers!

Magnificent. You should do well. Best wishes.

Absolutley beautiful Robert. The sense of building up the tension towards the flame was well executed, and I had the feeling of being carried along towards it. Well done.
The Medtner I hadn't previously heard but nevertheless a well executed performance.
Both pieces didnt seem to need any extra work to me.

Thanks very much for the nice comments. I need to practice more (don't we all) and appreciate the encouragement.

Vers la Flamme is not on the syllabus, but I assume it would be either LRSM or FRSM level, do you agree?

Well I havent see a score of it, but it sounds more demanding than Scriabin pieces at Associate Dip level !
