Wow! That's amazing! I'm half-way through the entire Discworld series at the moment - my friend introduced me to them and I'm addicted! smile.gif Now I can picture the Discworld better - it's an incredible cake!

amazing cake.

not sure I'd want to eat it!

It's a beautiful cake! Strange idea for a wedding cake though - whatever happened to romance?
denmark77
Staggering amount of work has clearly gone into making that cake, looks far too good to eat, would be a shame to spoil it...

Fine for those who are romantic, but a bit much for those who aren't? tongue.gif

If the couple are both fans of Pratchett, I think it'd be great smile.gif Not everyone wants things to be sickly sweet and slushy wink.gif

I find the cakes with bride & groom figures on top extremely cliched, so something personal to those getting married is a great idea. biggrin.gif You don't have to be tacky to be romantic...

That's fantastic! I'll have to show that to my sons - both Discworld fans biggrin.gif

You would be inclined to think so wouldn't you? But no.

Which is why my wedding cake was a five-a-side subbuteo match between Celtic (me) and Spurs (him).

Made by my own fair hand, no less!

Thats amazing. A real work of art!

Used to be a huge fan of Terry Pratchett, but stopped reading the books a few years back... am now inclined to dig them out again.. Especially loved the ones with the 3 Witches in.

*Apologies for semi hijacking thread.. is kind of on same topic just veered slightly to the side*

I think something personal is a lovely touch for a wedding.

I think something personal is a lovely touch for a wedding.

I didn't mean to imply that wedding cakes had to be 3-tier white with a bride and groom on the top (even though that is what I chose!!). We went to a wedding 3 years ago where the couple had met in Zimbabwe. Their cake was a map of Africa on a sea-blue ground, and little bride and groom figures (moulded to look like the couple) were sitting on the edge wetting their feet in the Indian Ocean. It was lovely, and very personal.

I suppose I just don't see Discworld as very personal for a wedding. It reminds me of the Harry Potter cakes in Tesco's - OK for a child's birthday party, but not what I'd associate with a wedding.

My friends had a lovely cake in 3 tiers with little figures of them skiing down the side of one, plus their 2 dogs - one at the top and one at the bottom playing with snowballs. There was more, but I can't remember what just at the moment........
