If there's anyone looking for a really decent English made violin case, check this one out on ebay

Ebay can have some great items occasionally but although that case is good quality from the picture the price is a bit steep.

I thought it was quite cheap for a good case.

Similar cases here would set you back 4 - 500 euros - that makes it less than half price.

I don't think you can get high quality very cheaply - that's a pipe dream that too many people aspire too.

200 pounds isn't even a quarter the price of a good quality professional bow - add in a fiddle costing several thousand pounds (say even 3-6 k for entry level professional instruments) and the cost of the case is very little!

At a recent choir concert I was talking to one of the violinists in the orchestra, and he had recently bought a new case. He said he'd winced at the cost until he remembered that it would be protecting an instrument worth about the same as a house

I understand the need for a good quality case. If I had a violin worth 5k then I would happily fork out £2-300 for a case.

I know what i am going to say is
BUT
I used to cringe at the price of some violins 'but' not anymore, not after having read some interesting magazine in my dentist waiting room where it was showing some of the things 'one would want to buy with the spare cash you don't know what to do with' AND....there was an iPhone 3G at the mere price of 1.7 MILLION pounds! yes, you've read right, it was ONLY 1.7million pounds as it has a big diamond in place of the round 'home button' oh and some gold edges of course

After reading that I no longer think it is crazy to have a 5k violin!
