Have just completed coursework and got 77% under my belt having never had any previous theoryand being mostley self taught via the chord symbol route /elctronic organ/vamping and choir singing. The course is thoroughly enjoyable and summer school is great. just the exam now.

I notice refs in here to A214 being grade six equivalent. Is that the case and does that mean exemption from Grade 5/6 theory ??

If you want to take the teaching diploma, A214 is an acceptable substitute for the Grade 6 theory requirement. I would therefore be very surprised if it didn't also substitute for the Grade 5 theory requirement to continue with the post G5 practical exams, but you're probably safer to email the board just to make sure.
