I was pulling my hair out this morning when my daughter arrived, and told her that I had resigned myself that it didn't matter if I failed.
My daughter wasn't having any of that and helped me set up a study calendar for the next week. I said that I just had a mental block, and she said that is because you are trying to do too many things at one time, rather than just one subject.
She gave me back some hope, and after she went home I decided to have a go at writing an essay on the Baroque era on just what I know in my head.
I felt quite pleased with myself as I managed to do it, I know that it isn't brilliant and needs some work on it, but for the first go. This morning before she arrived I didn't think I would be able to write anything.
I have emailed it to my lovely daughter and she is going to have a read of it for me and let me know what she thinks.

Lovely to hear this, eldatom. Sometimes all you need is more self-confidence, but it takes someone close to help you get to that point.
Daughters are lovely, aren't they!

Excellent, ET. As someone who finds it hard to get motivated, I know how invaluable it is to have some gentle support. You'll be great!

As you know, ET, I'm full of admiration for you doing this course - whatever the result, nothing can take away the knowledge that you've gained and the experiences you've had. But take comfort from Choddy's experience a week before his diploma - he was virtually certain that he hadn't done enough to pass and was talking about pulling out, but in the end he did the exam and ended up passing. I'm sure it will be the same for you because you've got so much determination and willpower to succeed, especially with your daughter to give you a boost

... she said that is because you are trying to do too many things at one time, rather than just one subject.I saw a news headline this week which you may like, ET ---
'if you only do one thing this week, stop multi-tasking'
Best of luck! you've come a long way already - you'll be fine.
