How difficult are the Crusell progressive duets for clarinet? I have a duet playing friend and thought we might try them. She has only been learning for a year but has made good progress and is about grade four standard. Would these be suitable and are there any other suggestions out there?
Thanks

These are quite advanced duets very nice to play, one of the duets is available for free download on the clarinet institute website www.clarinetinstitute.com which will give you and idea of the standard

Thanks for that. I have looked on the site and think the duo might well be within our scope. Always looking for clarinet duets so grateful for the response.

Honestly, There are some very tricky cross rhythms between the two parts in these. I'd been playing 8 or 9 years before I did these with my teacher and achieved a playing standard of around grade 7-8 I'd say.

Been playing them again with a competent partner this week and they are not easy. Great fun though smile.gif and you may manage some of the slower movements or you could work on some sections down tempo????

They are lovely when you get them together clarinet.gif clarinet.gif wub.gif

Well my friend joined me for a go at the Crusell duo this afternoon and we got on reasonably well. It will be a lovely piece to learn and we relish the challenge of something new. Thanks for all the input on the new clarinet project.

They are lovely but I'm afraid to say that they are beyond my capabilities - I'm about Grade 5 level (on a good day, possibly Grade 6) but I wouldn't attempt them just yet! Definitely something to aim for though! smile.gif

I haven't played them in a couple of years, and we only did the first one I think. Maybe I should suggest doing them again to my teacher! wub.gif

Number 2 is rather nice wub.gif That's the one my duet partner and I are currently looking at.
