I put a certain paragraph I wrote earlier in bold now - that's all I can say about it. They want it, they'll get it. And probably won't buy it

Whoops, missed that

Why would it be so bad if they won? Would you be required by law to buy their record? Have you forgotten where the off switch/channel changer is if they come on the radio/TV? Who cares if they "can't sing" (which, coming from as lame a performer as Cheryl Cole, is a total pot-kettle-black scenario) - neither can Frank Black, nor Iggy Pop, nor David Baker (Mercury Rev). Personally, I think their success is down to a public revulsion at the disgusting ad hominem remarks of Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole - the John Sergeant effect.
No need to be rude about it
I was just saying that it's unfair that they should be getting votes on a
talent contest. Surely it can't be difficult to understand why that's frustrating.
I wasn't being rude.
However, it might be worth pointing out that it's not a talent contest, it's a television programme. It has one aim and one aim only - to make Simon Cowell money. It has a subsidiary side-effect, which is to "entertain". If it were a genuine talent contest it would need changing in the following regard:
a) Sack Louis Walsh - he gives people with a tin ear a bad name.
b) Sack Simon Cowell - he's only in it for the money, and is nothing but a glorified Corn Flakes salesman
c) Sack Cheryl Cole - unless you think a demonstrable paucity of singing talent is sufficient qualification
d) Sack Dannii Miinnogue - same reasons as c)
Replace the above with someone - anyone - with any critical faculty whatsoever. I'd suggest people like Guy Chambers, Trevor Horn, George Martin. YMMV.
Anyway, I'm going to break the habit of the last five years and vote for John and Edward. There's no-one else there who has a ghost of a chance of a career as a recording artist anyway, so why not have some fun? At least it will annoy Simon Cowell, which is money well spent.
