We were sitting on the sofa and when John and Edward got put in the bottom two with Lucie, the four of us just went, 'Oh well that's good, that means that they'll definitely go tonight'... didn't we get a shock! What the heck is wrong with Simon Cowell?! The choice was EASY to make! I liked him up till last night. Poor Lucie sad.gif

EDIT: I changed 'h.ell' to 'heck'... tongue.gif

I think the problem I have here is not with John and Edward at all (and I still admit to quite liking their act!), it's with Simon. Simon said 'I don't like them', and 'I will leave the country if they win'. So what does he do when he has the chance to vote them out? He votes Lucie out instead. I know it's his show to do with as he likes, but that hasn't done his reputation a great deal of good...
rosfrog
These things are just big set ups. The acts who actually perform rarely audition spontaneously - often they are telephoned by the production office and 'invited' to audition (which is a sure sign you'll get on the show).

It's particularly interesting to note that the French version is running at the same time and we too have two youngish guys who can't really sing all that well, but who prat about on stage a lot and who, wait for it, sang ghostbusters one week as their entry.

Hmmm - just add water.

So Simon probably has no control over who he keeps and gets rid of, there's a large chance it's predecided.
laura-clarinet
Simon kept the twins cos if they are there his acts are safe.

I broke my own rule tonight - no x factor - but i had to watch queen week - just HAD to.

John and Edward will go tomorrow, im sure of it.

If not....oh welll.

P.s i loved stacey singing who wants to live foreverr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
denmark77
I strongly agree with what been said already here - Simon Cowell is playing a dangerous game with the public though, in his hypocritical treatment of Jedward.

Liked Stacey's perfomance a lot, but Jo is still my fave to win. party1.gif he is so consistent and likeable.

BTW< very sad to learn of the crush injuries sustained by JLS fans in Birmingham yesterday, at the switching on of the Chrsitmas lights.

I can't believe that. Do J&E not even feel the slightest bit of remorse?!
freda_bloogs
Tonight I received a load of messages from my friends in England on Facebook telling me to check out YouTube for this very reason (knowing that I am a huge Queen fan).

Let's just say that I went from sad, to angry, to laughing in the space of about 15 minutes. What an absolute joke that programme is. I don't watch the French version either, I imagine from what rosfrog says that it's just as appalling as the rest of the ###### on TV these days.

Which he shouldn't have done.

It hardly seems worth stating the obvious, but X is firstly entertainment, secondly a popularity contest, thirdly a singing competition. That J & E "cannot" sing is irrelevant - people (it seems) prefer watching their antics to listening to, for example, Jamie Archer. In any case, being unable to sing is hardly a bar to success in pop music, is it?

As far as J&E are concerned I think we are now well and truly into a surreal world where their lack of vocal ability has no bearing on the results.

Olly was very out of tune for the majority of his performance last night unsure.gif I loved him to begin with, but I'm finding that I like him less and less with every week. He still has the fab moves, though! As always, being the loyal fan, I'm rooting for Joe happy.gif

But much as I've been entertained over the past few weeks, you couldn't really state a decent case to vote for them over Olly...

Apparently they've been hit quite hard by the awful public backlash. At first it brushed over them, but these last couple of weeks, reports say that they've been suffering sleepless nights and were relucatant to leave the X Factor house because every time they did, members of the public would shout abuse at them. I'm guessing there would have been a small amount of relief for them in being voted off this week.

As much as their performances did seem to be rather trite and banal, and they arguably caused better(?) acts to leave, I don't think the amount of hatred (and yes, I believe it is hatred) towards them is acceptable. There are dozens of facebook hate groups aimed at them, and at the end of the day they are two just 18-year old guys, and I dread to think what negative effects this could have on them in the future.

I believe it was hatred too. There's an awful lot of difference between not particularly liking an act, and hatred. I'm with you on this one Celeste.

I hope they get a decent career out of being on the show. Whatever your opinion on them, they did work hard, and they, for me, gave the viewing public some good entertainment.

Anyone remember 'Charley says...' - Stacey very much sounds like the cat when she talks.

You can beat me up for it, but she is honestly the most mediocre singer I have heard in a while. Her performances on Saturday were abysmal, including a keychange she didn't get that made her sing a semitone too low for probably 3-5 secs and a note at the end that just made me cringe because it was so painful - and still everyone raves about how great she is. People who vote for her probably also voted for Susan Boyle - for exactly the same reason (I rather won't say more). I had the 'joy' of listening to her CD lately. If you suffer from insomnia, it's a great cure. People buy it for the same reason though they would also buy Stacey's records - whatever...
Sorry, I really don't rate her at all, I find her both hard to watch and listen to.

Joe has the best voice, Olly is the better entertainer. Stacey has neither of both, so I hope she is the first one to go out next time...
