Hi, some of my friends and I are considering starting a string quartet next year (as we get one free period to do what we want with, so we'd have regular practice times). Does anyone have suggestions for good string quartet pieces? These are our levels:

Violin I: will have just done Grade 8
Violin II: will have just done Grade 8
Viola: about Grade 7
Cello: about Grade 7

I think we're looking for moderately impressive, but not crazily hard. Also, if anyone has any other tips, could they share them, please? Oh, and ideally everyone getting the tune a bit - I don't know which of the violins will be second, they'll probably have to toss a coin or something.

Try the Haydn in F Op74 No2. My daughter did that one at school and all the players were Gr 7-8. They also didthe famous Borodin movement (Is it No2 slow movement?)

Thanks!
I think it's the 3rd movement: Nocturne?
Little Elf
the string quartet I play with recently did Schubert D18 which was quite fun.

there's a video of the first movement on youtube here

haven't listened to it though so don't know how good it is.
