The Old Lady
Hi Friends,
I have a lesson with a new teacher on Monday for flute, to see if we will get on OK. I hope so. goodLuck.gif
She sounds lovely on the phone.
My other teacher moved to Dorset sad.gif He could still teach me, but only in University term time, so there were huge gaps..........so much so, that we missed the dead line for exam entry because I was unsure as to whether I was ready for the next grade.
It's a bit mind boggling having a new one though, all the nerves playing in front of a stranger again. rolleyes.gif
Wish me luck.
Bev.

Love the top! You really don't have any reason to be nervous. Believe in yourself and go for it.

Best of luck with your new teacher

I agree with the others, Bev. You have nothing to worry about - just relax and show her what you can do (the Elgar piece might be a good starting point....) and remember how you have overcome lots of nerves already this year at the Forum Events.

I will be thinking of you and hoping that all goes well. Good Luck biggrin.gif

PS do they do the PJs in men's sizes? unsure.gif

All the best, Bev. Believe it or not, she may be nervous too (I speak from experience!). smile.gif

Hope it goes well and that you've found the right teacher for you. smile.gif

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone.

good luck Bev! hope it all goes well.

It went well. She is delightful. Teaching in a different style, but most acceptable. I did start with the Elgar, and made the most mistakes I have ever made laugh.gif Then we did it with the piano and all was well, I chilled out.
So I played the Handel....that went well.
Then we had to choose a C piece, and have decided on the Kohler.
It was good to have some input, I haven't had a lesson since June.
Back on track.

Great news, Bev, I knew you could do it! First impressions do count, and yours seem good, so here's hoping it all works out for you. How long are your lessons going to be, because I think you said your last teacher gave you at least an hour.

Good choice to do the Elgar, because you have played it several times with me on piano this summer so that hasn't suffered from not having your last teacher to play for you. How was your new teacher's left hand when she accompanied the Handel biggrin.gif (or did you only do the first movement? unsure.gif ).

The Old Lady
laugh.gif Her left hand was very good I thought. However she apologised for the left hand and copied the music to practise rolleyes.gif
She is very young. ONly about 28-9. As soon as she realized I don't bite, she was really chatty and helpful, and even said she would bring me some handout sheets from school ( she is a high schoold teacher). tongue.gif
I went to bed to study the Kohler before I went to sleep. Dead exciting me. rolleyes.gif

Well done you! It sounds like you're going to have a lovely time in your lessons party1.gif

So that makes two of us who have apologised for the left hand in the Handel wacko.gif .

Hmmm, so she lives near you, is young, friendly and plays flute - I wonder if she likes playing duets....with men unsure.gif

Only kidding, Bev laugh.gif [runs and hides!] hides.gif

I apologise every time I play it. AND I don't play the RH at all. ohmy.gif

Well I can't play the left or the right hand, so I play the flute instead laugh.gif rolleyes.gif

Here's a good idea - the next time we are all three together at an event, you can play the flute part, Andante_in_C can play the left hand and I will play the right hand biggrin.gif . That should sort it out once and for all tongue.gif .
The Old Lady
Cosy. laugh.gif
