Full Version: Audition On Tuesday

This may well be the silliest question I've yet asked on here, but never mind...

I'm meant to have an audition in Glasgow on Tuesday in front of a couple of rather famous record producers. I still can't believe I've been invited to audition, and would absolutely love the chance to get somewhere. I've been excited about this for weeks and have it all planned (but thankfully haven't yet bought a ticket). I say thankfully because...

...on Friday I was confirmed as having swine flu, and am coughing incessantly and struggling to breath, along with all the other symptoms. With one day to go... there really isn't any hope for this audition, is there? sad.gif

Give the people in Glasgow a call, and let them know. Hope you get yourself another audition date. I know I'd look upon your predicament with a great deal of sympathy.

Give them a ring first thing tomorrow and explain the situation. smile.gif It sounds like it's in everyone's best interests for the audition to be delayed (and I'm sure that they don't want you to give them swine flu tongue.gif).

Hope you're feeling better soon, Floss. smile.gif

Edit: If they can't accommodate you then it's maybe just one of those things that wasn't meant to be on this occasion - in which case you may find that you get an even better opportunity later. Things have a habit of working themselves out for us regardless of how much we try to be in charge.

It appears to be one of those things that isn't meant to be - there is no flexibility in this case. Ho hum... Thanks for all the replies. (Back to bed now for me!)

Poor Celeste! Hope you feel much better soon - and that you haven't passed on the bug to your handsome swain!

You must be very disappointed to be missing out on the audition, but maybe something else will come up for you later.

When I read BM's post, I thought she was calling mw1 a posh "swine" - because of your flu!

Really sorry to read of your disappointment. Another opportunity will present itself.

If you heard my Yorkshire accent, stetenorve, you'd know I'd never pronounce swine like that!! biggrin.gif How clever of you to think of it.

Well, I've lived here for 33 years, but somehow my accent has never really become southern. It's strange that although in Berkshire people think I have a Yorkshire accent, in Barnsley (where I grew up) people can't detect it at all now!

It's funny to me that my children can't actually understand the Barnsley accent when we go up there and meet someone who speaks really broadly. biggrin.gif They both claim that the NE accent is much easier to cope with!
