...and the amazing accompanist hero driver lady arrived and Andante, the accompanist and tagalong helper/bag carrier and page turner Katyjay departed for a quick trip to the exam centre.
Which is, as the bird almost flies, a brief 45 minute trip away. Say an hour after a small scenic detour of the town centre on the way to the car park....
Of the exam, I can report that Andante sounded pretty good over the rather loud piano (page turners don't hear things from the best vantage point). Her Mozart started with a good dramatic flourish and flew along from there. Roussel and Anne Boyd duly followed, I managed not to mess up any of the page turns, drop the spare flute or send any of the music flying. So far so good....

Then we set off to come home, just after 3pm. It was a bit snowy as we joined the motorway, and rapidly got more snowy and nasty as we got further along it.
We got off the motorway at the second attempt, and then took best part of 3 hours to get from there back to Andante's house despite the satnav saying it was only 5 minutes away, through sheer, treacherous, horrible untreated snowy roads. We got up hills by sheer willpower, and down them with our teeth gritted (shame the roads weren't....)
Our accompanist deserves a medal not only for the ostinatos in Cloudy Mountain, but for getting us most of the way home (Signor Dante collected us and took us the last mile.)
Four hours into our 45 minute journey we finally got to Andante's house. Phew.
