Do people just sometimes AMAZE you with how naturally talented they are?

A close friend of mine, Amy, who I've known since year 2 is just so good at... mucking around and being creative. In art she can splash paint about all over a canvas, and make it look incredible, without even thinking about what she's doing, it just happens. Then in music, she plays the flute, and is about the same standard as me. Her and her twin have been playing since they were 8, and her twin, Chloe (who is also a close friend of mine) plays piano. Amy is always sitting down at their piano and crashing chords, making up little songs, playing with the pedals, all absentmindedly, and it's always amazing. She can play the things that Chloe plays, by watching her, and asking what a couple of notes are, then working it out from there. She doesn't even know what the notes on the piano are called- she's that good! This is grade 5/6 piano stuff, which she plays better than her sister! I bet it's annoying...

Then when I got my piccolo, she came round and had a go on it, and was just so natural at it. Most people take a while to figure out the mouth shape and things, don't they? I did anyway... But I went to the loo, and when I came back she was whizzing around making up little tunes, going up sky-high with a perfect tone.

Do you know anyone like this? Or are you like this? Just really scatty, all over the place and really creative? She's not too great at theory but has a brilliant ear.
Violin Hero
The leader of my youth orchestra who used to play as principal 2nd violin for the NYO. His improvisation and making tough passages seem so simple is just amazing.

Not one of use are even close to him and there are many post grade 8 players, myself included. Apart from the coach of course!

I also have a friend who is extremely talented at athletics to the point where he represents England at under 19 level. Just couldn't believe how far he jump in to the pit or how far he can throw a javlin, can more than double my pb of 23 metres.
OllytheClarinet
I don't know anyone quite as good as that, but I am definitely aware that an awful lot of people in my band work so much harder than me - I really look up to the ex-leader (first clarinettist). As a clarinettist myself, I am in awe of her tone and the way she makes everything sound so effortless.....

Some of my favourite pieces last year were because I could listen to a certain section of music (normally with a beautiful clarinet solo) without playing myself (or minimal playing anyway smile.gif )
