Just interested in how far people can stretch (over keys that is, not in some sexual Karma Sutra-ish way)
I can stretch from a C to the E above the next C above it, so basically 10 keys...

An octave usually but depending on configuration can be more or less - for example I can't always play cleanly a series of fast octaves, yet I can stretch usually one more for a major 9th if it's a one off...
Remember though that some of the greatest did not necessarily have huge hands...

I can stretch a ninth with some difficulty. I think my hands must be a similar size to Cheeble's.

i can only just stretch an octave as well....i did my grade 8 exam today and i had to apologise to the examiner for not being able to stretch to all the notes in the last chords of one of my pieces.......i thought it was quite amusing really....though im not sure she would agree but we'll see in 2 weeks time

I've just tried something. The distance from the base of my hand to the tips of my fingers is that same length that i can stretch. Is this the same for everyone??

By stretch did you mean forcing it by wedging your little finger against a key then stretching as far as you can, or being able to land your thumb & little finger on the notes without preparation, and not sounding adjacent notes?

I can stretch a 10th relatively easily and an 11th if i really try (but it hurts

) Icouldn't play an 11th in a piece though coz i gotta prepare for it.
I must have massive hands or something.
If small-hand people get a club I think big handed people should to.
Interesting fact that I can stretch an octave from my 1st finger (thumb) to my 2nd finger. My other fingers just don't stretch quite as far.
practice makes perfect

easily an octave - just about a ninth if i really push it!

Good point - if it is playing the 2 notes separately, then C to D on the right, C to E on the left (though I am right handed). Simultaneously it is as I said in my previous post, and reliably, an octave on the right but C to D on the left.

can do major 9th fairly easily now, but not a 10th,
all depends on the size of your hands tho. it amazes me wen u see tiny little pianists playin such big pieces i wonder how they can stretch their hands lol?

So agreed
I can, in a pinch (or is that a stretch?) reach a ninth
Although, if the notes don't have to be connected or played at the same time I can play to or from any of the 88 notes on the piano...lol
