I noticed a cello suite item on the grade 2 syllabus for viola so I went to see which item it was and it's certainly not grade 2! I see the edition given is an album - does this volume contain a significantly simplified version of the piece? Is it just the top line with the double stops taken out? I'm trying to look through the music for each grade with a view to doing a DipABRSM and am starting with what I already own to save money, but surely it can't be the full version?

I haven't seen the book (I teach cello, not viola) but I'm sure it will be a simplified version! It sounds like the volume is maybe a collection of easy versions of famous pieces. I remember playing an easy piano version of the same Gavotte many years ago...

It's just the top line, and a simplified version of the top line at that.

Phew! Ah well, hoped it was something I already had in my files somewhere.
