I first saw Maksim Mrvica on my sixteenth birthday almost two years ago on ClassicFM TV, and my friends and I had just come off the bouncy castle in my back garden (fab birthday idea for anyone looking for an idea

). We were just lounging around on the sofa flicking through the channels on TV and I put on Classic FM and we saw the most beautiful pair of hands in the world!

My friend, Amy, and I were totally enraptured by his hands

It was pretty crazy...

Anyway, he's an incredible pianist - not to mention pretty gorgeous

- and I was just wondering if anybody here had heard him?

Here's a video of him playing Liszt's 'Hugarian Rhapsody no. 2' - fantastic performance!

If you think that's good (and it is - very, very good - but not quite great ) then check this out. The recording is crummy quality, but the playing is in a different league:

Heck, if Marc-Andre Hamelin was as handsome as Maksim, what a career he would have.

Yes, I agree that Hamelin is a fantastic pianist.
His is my favourite version if Liszt's Un Sospiro. It's wonderous!

I think that has to be the most technically perfect recording of La campanella that there is!

Wow, he is good!

I'm not quite sure that I like how he overdoes his rubato sometimes... but there's no denying that he's great.

Wow! You've got to love Valentina Lisitsa, her technical ability is just incredible!

I always think she looks like she is being electrocuted because she her hands are jumping around the keyboard so fast!!!!!
