hi,
i was wondering what the speed in quajira in the grade 3 book should be. i am worried if i play too slow, i might get low marks but if i play too quickly, i will tend to make mistakes.

I actually thought this was fiendishly tricky for Grade 3. I do quite like it but chose Top Cat instead ohmy.gif

Have you listened to the ABRSM recording? You can hear a snippet here:

I would aim for close to that speed but I don't think you'd lose many marks for being a bit slower? smile.gif

Good luck, it's a great piece!

I played it quite a bit faster than the recording when I did grade 3 - I got full marks for it though - so long as it isn't too slow you won't be marked down, as It could be seen as making the peice easier...

The marked speed is good. Remember, it SOUNDS quicker if you really accent the strong beats and get the pulse spot on. It's all about rhythm (and neat fingers). My pupil in summer had several little fumbles and still got 25.
